From Christa Grix, Conference Chair:
Join us in Metro Detroit, the city that put the world on wheels and dancing to the Motown beat! Detroit, as a twentieth century industrial powerhouse, used its wealth to create cultural legacies like the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Henry Ford, Cass Tech High School, and the Interlochen Arts Academy. Now, you can experience these outstanding institutions, when you join us at the Hyatt Dearborn, a full-service, four-diamond hotel, for a week of health, fitness, personal growth and discovery.

June, '08 Conference Update.
  • The Hyatt Dearborn has just announced that it has a limited number of king bed rooms for conference participants. These rooms will be available at the special AHS rate until June 5, 2008. Contact the Hyatt at 800.223.1234 or book your reservation online from the hotel drop down menu on this website.

  • There are still plenty of rooms available at the newly renovated DoubleTree Dearborn, about 1.5 miles away from the Hyatt. We have contracted with the DoubleTree to have rooms available at the AHS preferred room rate of $105/night. For your convenience, a shuttle will be provided to assist you in getting back and forth between the Hyatt and DoubleTree. You may contact the DoubleTree hotel at 313.336.3340, or 800.222.TREE, and ask for the AHS preferred rate, or visit the hotel page on this website to book your reservation online. More information about the DoubleTree Dearborn is available at www.dearborn.doubletree.com. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

  • We are pleased to announce that The Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival has made public the roster of chamber musicians who will join AHS harpists on our collaborative concert Tuesday, June 24. These artists include Jeremy Denk, Ida Kavafian, and Sara Sant’Ambrogio. Please visit our Artists page to learn more. Tickets for this concert have been released for sale to the general public, but there are still plenty of seats available for AHS members.

  • Glenn Kurtz, New York Times acclaimed author, and Conference Keynote Speaker, will be autographing copies of his book at the conference. Please prepare for the conference, support our conference artists, and support the AHS at the same time, by clicking on the Amazon.com links to purchase books and music. You pay the same amount, but a portion of the sale goes to the 38th National Conference.

  • Due to the success of the Student Volunteer response, we are continuing the Early Registration $100 rate for students who register as volunteers.

  • Mackinac Island: We regret that we have had to cancel this post-conference excursion due to a shortage in registration numbers.
